BarCamp North East 3
Last Saturday I got up early at 7am for a 2 and a half hour drive to Newcastle for Bar Camp North East 3 with @DavidBatty (#BCNE3). It was a good drive over, we didn’t hit much traffic at all, we got there at about 11.30 but it took us an hour to find somewhere to park in the city centre.
We finally got parked up and got into the building and caught the end of a session just before the break for dinner. Once dinner was over it was back to the sessions. Over the day the sessions I went to were Creativity, Windows 7/ Silverlight, Freelancing best practices, Real Time web and JQuery. We then got a fish and chips Tea which was very nice. There were late sessions on after but we had to leave so missed the late sessions.
We went back the next day and went to a few more sessions these were about 80’s computer games where they were going round in a circle naming 80’s games in alphabetic order, I was a bit out of my depth because I only knew about 3 or 4 and each time it got to me I got a letter that I didn’t know any games for. The last session I went to was about getting off your ass and doing something, they were discussing making money from your blog and creating a simple application and selling it. It gave me a few ideas and prompted me to do something.
Over all it was a great weekend, this was the 4th bar camp I’d been to. There looked to be about 40-45 people in total that attended. Not the biggest one I’d been to but there was a good number and some good sessions on
